Hybrid co-simulation of FMUs using DEV&DESS in MECSYCO

چکیده
Co-simulation is a key tool in the design and operation of a growing number of complex cyber-systems. But efficiently yet accurately combining continuous time components (such as FMUs) with event-based ones can be challenging, both from a modeling perspective and an operational, tools-oriented one. We propose a platform to tackle this problem building up on MECSYCO, a MAS-based DEVS wrapping platform dedicated to co-simulation. Relying on the ability of DEVS to integrate the DEV&DESS formalism -which offers a sound framework for describing hybrid modelswe propose a DEV&DESS wrapper for FMU. This wrapper encapsulates a version of the DEV&DESS simulation algorithm for FMU components which is notably composed of: (1) a forecast strategy which searches for the next state-event; (2) a bisectional algorithm to approach the location of the state-change in an FMU. Our solution is implemented using Java and JavaFMI to control the FMU. Our sample case is the co-simulation of a barrel-filler factory implemented in different FMUs and event-based models. Compared to related works, our proposal is functional, generic, yet evolutionary, and benefits from the strong foundations of DEV&DESS.

Implementation of Hybrid Systems Described by DEV&DESS in the QSS Based Simulator PowerDEVS
In this article, a method for implementing hybrid models, formulated as DEV&DESS, in the QSS based simulator PowerDEVS is presented. PowerDEVS is actually a pure DEVS simulator. However, it is specialised for simulating continuous Models (DESS) using QSS (Quantized State System) to translate them into discrete event models (DEVS). Therefore, it is perfectly suited for the simulation of hybrid m...

Several formalisms have been defined to represent combined continuous and discrete event simulation models. In the “Theory of Modeling and Simulation” the DEV&DESS formalism was shown to have the properties expected from a universal representation of such models. Also it was shown that DEVS can provide accurate simulations of DESS (Differential Equation Specified System) models. In this paper, ...

A hybrid system is a dynamical system reacting to continuous and discrete changes simultaneously. Many researchers have proposed modeling and verification formalisms for hybrid systems, but algorithmic verification of important properties such as safety and reachability is still an on-going research area. This paper demonstrates that a basic modeling formalism for hybrid systems, DEV&DESS is an...

Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) is a highly complex system integrating physical components having sensors/actuators with computing components for the control. As the complexity of the system, the system should be designed using model-based approach and it should be verified before an implementation. In this paper, we exploit a simulation methodology for verifying the designed system by model-based...
